Los hijos de Israel fueron llevados cautivos "porque [carecian] de conocimiento".

The children of Israel went into captivity "because they [had] no knowledge".

Los hijos de Israel, donde se da la tierra propia elección especial y la "tierra que fluye leche y miel" (Jeremías 32:22). Pero debido a que no tenía conocimiento,  ellos fueron asesinados y el resto de ellos en caso de llevarse cautivo (ver Lamentaciones 1:1-3).

The children of Israel where given there own special choice land a land flowing with milk and honey (see Jeremiah 32:22).  But because they had no knowledge, may of them were killed and the remainder of them where carried away captive (see Lamentation 1:1-3). 

Si el conocimiento es tan importante, ¿cómo podemos obtener el conocimiento y qué tipo de conocimiento es más importante?

If knowledge is so important, how do we gain knowledge and what type of knowledge is most important?



Una de las bendiciones prometidas a nosotros como los hijos de Israel o "el pueblo del convenio del Señor" es que en los últimos días es que "se vengan al conocimiento de [nuestra] Redentor [Jesús Cristo] y de los principios exactos de su doctrina, que [nosotros sebemous] cómo venir a él y ser salvos "(véase 1 Nefi 15:14).

One of the promised blessings to us as the children of Israel or "the covenant people of the Lord" is that in that last days is that we "shall come to the knowledge of [our] Redeemer [, Jesus Christ] and the very points of his doctrine, that [we] may know how to come unto him and be saved" (see 1 Nephi 15:14).

Yo creo que este "conocimiento de [nuestra] [Salvador y] Redentor, y de los principios exactos de su doctrina" es "del conocimiento" mas importante que podemos obtener en esta vida.

I submit to you that this "knowledge of [our] Redeemer,[ and Savior] and the very points of his doctrine" is the most critical "knowledge" we can gain in this life.



¿Cómo logramos este conocimiento esencial?

How do we gain this essential knowledge?




Creo que hay tres maneras en que podemos ganar este conocimiento esencial.

I believe there three ways we can gain this essential knowledge.

1. oración
2. estudio de las Escrituras
3. el Espíritu Santo

1. Prayer, we should pray and ask Heavenly Father.
2. Scripture Study
3. the Holy Ghost

Hoy me gustaría hablar sobre la segunda forma en que podemos ganar este conocimiento, del estudio de las Escrituras.

Today I would like to talk about about the second way we gain this knowledge, scripture study.



En primer lugar me gustaría hablar de como logra el estudio de las Escrituras.

First I would like to talk about the mechanics of scripture study.

1. Hay que leerlos.

1.          ¿Tiene usted una copia de las escrituras?
2.          ¿Sabe cómo leer las Escrituras?

1. We must read them.

1. Do you have a copy of the scriptures?
2. Do you know how to read the scriptures?

¿Cuánto tiempo dedicamos a leer las Escrituras?
         Se ha recomendado que las mujeres jóvenes leen cinco minutos cada día en el Libro de Mormón
         Para mí, un mínimo 15 minutos estudio las escrituras está bien, pero 30 minutos es mejor

1. How much time should we spend reading the scriptures?
   
1. It has been recommended that the young women read 5 minutes every day in the Book of Mormon
   
2. For me 15 minimum is OK, but 30 minutes is better

¿Dónde debemos leer las Escrituras?
         Podemos leer en cualquier lugar y en cualquier momento.
         Suelo leer la mía mientras viajo en el tren hacia el trabajo.

1. Where should we read the scriptures?
   
1. We can read them anywhere and anytime.
2. I usually read mine while riding the train to work.
   

Es importante que dedique tiempo cada día en el que podemos dar toda nuestra atención al "estudio" de las Escrituras.

It is important that set aside time each day where we can give our full attention to "study" the scriptures.

En la última conferencia habaron de dos differents discoursos muy especiales en relación con las Escrituras.

In the last conference there were two very special talk concerning the scriptures.

¿Pones notas en el margen para recordar un momento de guía espiritual o una experiencia que te haya enseñado una profunda lección? 

¿Utilizas todos los libros canónicos, incluso el Antiguo Testamento? 

How do you personally use the scriptures? 

Do you mark your copy? 

Do you put notes in the margin to remember a moment of spiritual guidance or an experience that has taught you a profound lesson? 

Do you use all of the standard works, including the Old Testament? 

Una manera eficaz de estudiar las Escrituras es memorizando las.

One effective way of studying the scriptures is to memorize them.

Se obtiene un gran poder al memorizar pasajes de Escrituras. El memorizar un pasaje es como crear una nueva amistad. Es como descubrir a una persona nueva que puede ayudarnos en tiempos de necesidad, darnos inspiración y consuelo, y ser la fuente de motivación para lograr un cambio necesario.

Great power can come from memorizing scriptures. To memorize a scripture is to forge a new friendship. It is like discovering a new individual who can help in time of need, give inspiration and comfort, and be a source of motivation for needed change. 

Una escritura memorizada pasa a ser una amistad duradera que no se debilita con el paso del tiempo.

A memorized scripture becomes an enduring friend that is not weakened with the passage of time.

El meditar en un pasaje de las Escrituras puede ser la llave que abra la revelación, la guía y la inspiración del Espíritu Santo. 

Las Escrituras pueden calmar un alma atribulada, brindándole paz, esperanza y restaurándole confianza en su propia capacidad para vencer los desafíos de la vida. 

Ellas tienen gran poder para sanar los desafíos emocionales

Pondering a passage of scripture can be a key to unlock revelation and the guidance and inspiration of the Holy Ghost. Scriptures can calm an agitated soul, giving peace, hope, and a restoration of confidence in one's ability to overcome the challenges of life. They have potent power to heal emotional challenges when there is faith in the Savior. They can accelerate physical healing.

Me gustaría compartir con ustedes una escritura que ha sido muy significativa para mí, tanto en Español e Inglés.

I would like to share with you a scripture that has been very meaningful to me both in Spanish and English.

 28  ¡Oh ese sutil ^aplan del maligno! ¡Oh las ^bvanidades, y las flaquezas, y las necedades de los hombres! Cuando son ^cinstruidos se creen ^dsabios, y no escuchan el ^econsejo de Dios, porque lo menosprecian, suponiendo que saben por sí mismos; por tanto, su sabiduría es locura, y de nada les sirve; y perecerán.

 29  Pero bueno es ser instruido, si ^ahacen caso de los ^bconsejos de Dios.

28 O that cunning ^aplan of the evil one! O the ^bvainness, and the frailties, and the ^cfoolishness of men! When they are ^dlearned they think they are ^ewise, and they ^fhearken not unto the ^gcounsel of God, for they set it aside, supposing they know of themselves, wherefore, their ^hwisdom is foolishness and it profiteth them not. In this lesson we are going to learn how to make comparisons in Spanish. To understand how to make comparisons in Spanish, it is important to understand that making comparisons about adjectives, nouns, or verbs all have some differences. Let's take a look.

Comparisons of Adjectives
Roberto es más alto que Martín. Más + Adjective + Que (Roberto is taller than Martín)

Martín es menos alto que Roberto. Menos + Adjective + Que (Martín is less tall than Roberto)
Sergio es tan alto como Roberto. Tan + Adjective + Como (Sergio is as tall as Roberto)
If I said that Roberto is not as tall as Sergio, Sergio would obviously be taller than Roberto.

Comparisons of Nouns
En Londres hay más habitantes que en París. (In London there are more people than in París)
En San Francisco hay menos habitantes que en Chicago. (In San Francisco there are less people than in Chicago).

The difference appears when we make a quality comparison, because we have to use Tanto/a/s according the noun.

En Berlín hay tanto turismo como en Amsterdam. (In Berlín there is as much tourism as in Amesterdam)

En San Francisco hay tantos bares como en Chicago. (In San Francisco there are as many bars as in Chicago).
En Nueva York hay tanta polución como en Los Ángeles. (In New York there is as much pollution as in Los Angeles)
En Argentina hay tantas rutas como en México. (In Argentina there are as many routes as in México)

Comparisons of Verbs
Enriqueta come más que Laura. (Enriqueta eats more than Laura)
Laura come menos que Enriqueta. (Laura eats less than Enriqueta)
Camila come tanto como su novio. (Camila eats as much as her boyfriend)

We are going to practice doing a comparison between 2 imaginary cities: Medano and Ruibal.

Medano es una ciudad más ruidosa que Ruibal. En Ruibal hay menos discotecas y bares que en Medano. Ruibal es una ciudad donde hay más casas bajas que en Medano. La gente en Ruibal disfruta más de las mañana que las personas en Medano, porque en Ruibal la gente sale menos por la noche. En Ruibal no hay tantos jóvenes como en Medano, ya que muchos jóvenes van a Medano para disfrutar de la vida nocturna. Además en Medano hay más universidades que en Ruibal.
Vivir en Medano es tan caro como vivir en Ruibal, porque ambas ciudades tienen gran demanda de alquileres. Sin embargo, el estilo de vida en Ruibal no es tan caro como el estilo de vida en Medano, porque la gente no necesita gastar mucho, hace vida sana y es más casera que la gente de Medano.

(Medano is a city noisier than Ruibal. In Ruibal there are fewer clubs and bars than on Medano.)

Ruibal is a city where there are more homes than in Medano. The people in Ruibal enjoy the morning more than the people in Medan, because people go out less in Ruibal at night. In Ruibal there are as many young people as in Medano, because young people go to Medano to enjoy the nightlife. Also in Medano there are more universities than in Ruibal. Living in Medano is as expensive as living in Ruibal, because both cities have high demand for rentals. However, the lifestyle of Ruibal is not as expensive as the Medano lifestyle, because the people don't need to spend that much, they live a healthy life and are more friendly than the people from Medano.)

Now, brothers and sisters, we are anxious to listen to the messages which willbe presented to us today and tomorrow. Those who will address us have sought heaven's help and direction as they have prepared their messages. That we maybe filled with the Spirit of the Lord and be uplifted and inspired as we listen and learn is my prayer. 

Ahora, hermanos y hermanas, estamos deseosos de escuchar los mensajes que se nos presentarán hoy y mañana. Los que van a hablarnos han procurado la ayuda y dirección del cielo al preparar sus mensajes. Que seamos llenos del Espíritu del Señor y seamos elevados e inspirados a medida que escuchemos y aprendamos; es mi oración,

May we long remember the messages we have heard. As we receive the issues of the Ensign andLiahona magazines which will contain these messages in written form, may we read and study them.

Espero que recordemos por mucho tiempo los mensajes que hemos escuchado. Al recibir los ejemplares de las revistas Ensign y Liahona con los mensajes escritos, espero que los leamos y los estudiemos.

We face many challenges in the world today, but I assure you that our Heavenly Father is mindful of us. He loves each of us and will bless us as we seek Him through prayer and strive to keep His commandments.

Study:
